About Us

The New Jersey Service Extension department is a service arm of the Salvation Army. Our mission is to provide immediate and temporary emergency assistance to families in need via local and trained volunteers in areas where there is no Salvation Army Corps location.

What Are Service Units?

Service Units are hubs that offer an array of assistance in their communities. They can be run by individual volunteers or committee members who share in the responsibility.

Where Are Service Units Located?

Most Service Units do not have a TSA building but are operated out of shared workspaces, local houses of worship, municipal buildings, and community centers, among other locations.

Services Offered

Service Unit Representatives represent The Salvation Army in offering emergency assistance during the course of the year in their communities and neighboring towns. They may also provide seasonal assistance, as needed, in the communities that they serve. Scope of services provided depends on the availability of the volunteer(s).
