Position Title: Emergency Assistance Coordinator
Department: Service Extension
Location: Service Extension North Regional Service Center, Newton, New Jersey
Supervisor: Regional Manager
Schedule: Flexible, Hours Vary

 

Essential Function

The Emergency Assistance Coordinator facilitates the provision of emergency assistance services, including screening calls, completing vouchers, gathering required documents, and representing The Salvation Army professionally.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities


  • Respond promptly to emergency assistance calls/voicemails and refer them to the appropriate Service Unit Representative.
  • Maintain communication and service standards set by the Service Extension department.
  • Conduct phone intakes/screenings to assess client needs and gather necessary documents.
  • Complete Emergency Assistance intake and ensure timely submission of document packets for processing.
  • Provide referrals to resources that can further assist clients in need.
  • Attend trainings/meetings to stay updated on policies, program changes, and industry tools.
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality of The Salvation Army volunteers, partners, and clients.
  • Maintain open communication with Service Unit Representative and Regional Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 Qualifications


  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and document scanning.
  • Completion of Emergency Assistance Services Training (provided by Regional Manager).
  • Approval of volunteer application/background check.
  • Understanding and appreciation of The Salvation Army's mission.
