Position Title: Seasonal Assistance Coordinator
Department: Service Extension
Location: Regional Service Center, Salem, New Jersey
Supervisor: Regional Manager/Program Coordinator
Supervises: May supervise other Service Unit Volunteers
Schedule: Flexible, Hours Vary


Essential Function
The Seasonal Assistance Coordinator will lead seasonal activities in the assigned service area as needed. Responsibilities include promoting seasonal assistance, notifying clients of upcoming events, informing clients of required documents, gathering all documents, and submitting them to the Program Coordinator. Additionally, they will represent The Salvation Army professionally during community engagements, with seasonal services varying according to each community's needs.


Seasonal activities may include: 
•    Camp Tecumseh Youth/Teen/Senior Overnight Camp 
•    Back-to-School Supplies Initiative  
•    Thanksgiving Initiative   
•    Code Blue Initiative 
•    Christmas Assistance Initiative 


Primary Duties and Responsibilities
•    Spearheading seasonal activities to assigned service area.
•    Promote the seasonal services provided by The Salvation Army at assigned service areas via outreach, social media, community events, and agency partnerships. 
•    Conduct phone intakes/screenings, assist client in applying for assistance, collect necessary documents, complete, and provide timely submissions of document packet to the Program Coordinator. Provide referrals to resources that can further assist clients in need.  
•    Attend trainings/meetings throughout the year to maintain up-to-date knowledge of policies, program changes, and industry tools.  
•    Respect and maintain confidentiality of The Salvation Army volunteers, partners, and clients. 
•    Maintain open communication with Regional Manager and Program Coordinator. 
•    Participate in fundraising activities, as needed. 
•    Other duties as assigned. 


Qualifications
•    Strong communication skills and a warm demeanor when interacting via email, phone, and in person with agency partners, volunteers, and clients. 
•    Strong organizational skills. 
•    Access to Microsoft Office programs and scanning ability. 
•    Approval of volunteer application/background check. 
•    Completion of the Service Unit Representative Training (provided by Regional Manager). 
•    Must understand and appreciate the mission of The Salvation Army.
